Delete your account

You can delete your Majlis account and its data at any time. Deleting is permanent and can’t be undone.

In the app

1. Open Majlis and go to Account.
2. Tap Delete account.
3. Confirm.

You are signed out and your account is deleted straight away.

Without the app

Email support@majlis.community from the email address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my account”. We do this so we know the request comes from you.

We will delete your account within 7 days and reply to confirm.

What is deleted

• Your account: name, email, password, Google sign-in link and photo.
• Your bookings (spots on upcoming events are given back), saved events, follows and “I’m interested” clicks.
• Your notifications, notification settings and push tokens.
• Your scholar or organiser profile and applications, including your phone number and photos.
• Questions you asked, except public questions that have been answered (see below).
• People you blocked, and blocks others made against you.
• Reports you made, and reports about you or your profile.

What happens to shared content

Some content also belongs to other people. This is what happens to it:

• Upcoming events you host are cancelled. People who booked are notified.
• Upcoming events you speak at go ahead without you. If you were the only scholar, the event is cancelled.
• Past events stay in other users’ history, with your name removed.
• Public questions you asked that have been answered stay, because the answer is the scholar’s and helps others. Your name was never shown on them, and the link to your account is removed.

What we keep, and for how long

• Server request logs, which can include your IP address, are deleted automatically after about 30 days.
• Our database provider’s restore history can hold your data for up to [backup retention] after deletion. Then it is gone.
• If you resolved reports as a moderator, the reports stay, without your name.
• We may keep information for longer only if the law requires it.

You can sign up again later with the same email, as a new account.
